My good friend Chris Rose (also known to the world as the mash-up D.J. ‘Car Stereo Wars‘) rang me on the phone one day and said he was filming this commercial for a “Dog Fish Head Beer” contest and needed some help with the shoot. As a fan of silly videos and beer, I was instantly on-board. Chris wrote, directed and starred in this spot about washed up child actor Anthony Michael Cherry that went on to win FIRST PLACE.
There is an amazing film-geek mecca known as “I LOVE VIDEO” here in Austin,TX. The store is filled with all the classics, as well as obscure foreign titles, and also carries the mainstream blockbusters (so everyone is happy). Years ago I made friends with some of the employees and we started a weekly Monday Night Nerf Gun Fight that we would play in the store, while customers were in there.
A few years back MTV had a trailer making competition for it’s MTV MOVIE AWARDS. My old roomies decided to lampoon “The Departed” with some butt humor. I play a few background roles in this piece, most notably the mustached guy who gets farted on (which MTV actually ended up using in their TV promo)
“Lost Socks” is a documentary about the blacklisting during the McCarthy era. Naw, I’m just kidding it’s a short film about a guy who loses his socks. My old flatmates (Dustin Doering, Jon and Jeff Ray) made this one weekend years back. All talented guys.
